ULTRAFILTRATION
The ultrafiltration is a method of filtration where fine particles can be separated from a pre-filtered flow of water.
The wastewater is routed through pressure pipes with the help of high-pressure pumps. Membranes of different models are arranged in the pressure pipes.
The size of membrane can be designed in such a way that the specific particle to be filtered can no longer suit this (e.g. 0.1 µm).
Then, the purified filtrate stream from the ultra filtration, permeate, contains the particles with size < 0.1 µm only. Their concentration increases in the wastewater stream with the retained particles and is retentive.
Therefore, the ultra filtration is also suitable to concentrate media.
